Its good. But is it better than Block or Dodge which could actually save you from being knocked down? No. On the LOS, a skilled blocker can push you up or down the LOS and still hit your player. On a Blitz, I can still get next to your player after blocking ... it will just cost a point of movement to do so. So its a good skill, but I don't think it is too good. I'm playing a team right now with 5 players with Fend and I haven't noticed it making the team too good so far ... would have rather had Block or Dodge on all 5 players.
True its not that effective against Treemen or Black Orcs. However against AV 8 or less they've been surprisingly effective. In fact one of the Dark Elf coaches in my league is convinced that the Assassins are too good. Effectively it gives you an ability to attack even if the player is higher strength, has more assists, or blocking would be nice but a turnover would be bad. Since Stab can be used and never result in a turnover it makes a very effective weapon. Also note, Stab weapons do not cause a player to get ejected like all the other weapons do. The argument was that they are easily concealed by the players to avoid the referee's notice.
Could you do this ... yes. However Journeymen have Loner which means they can only successfully use a team re-roll 50% of the time. If you filled your team with these players you are going to lose a lot. A team that loses all the time is only going to average about 40k a game. That would make it really difficult to build your super team that you describe when your positional player are risking injury as well (and probably risking it more than normal since the linemen are now so unreliable.)
d)Banco.
The Bank does not really help big teams because if their winnings from the game is negative is has to be paid from the bank or the treasury. So Big Team can hide some money but a couple losses would quickly see even the bank money reduced to zero. So really its main use is to allow lower TV teams save to purchase players or re-rolls without giving up inducements (ie handicaps).
e.1) Los equipos Elfos siguen igual.
Leap on the Catchers instead of Nerves of Steel just makes them Wardancer wanna-bes (I have no idea how that translates
). We really wanted the four Elf teams to be different from each other .... the more the better. Side Step and Nerves of Steel help the Elf team to do that along with them being the cheap Elf team.
e.2) Vale, me has pillado soy un entrenador Elfo.
Figured that out when you asked for the Ogre
My brother won my league championship back when the Gold Edition of Blood Bowl was the official rules in 2000 with Lizardmen. He still talks about his Lizardman team with a High Elf lineman and Ogre and wonders if I could make it so PBBL has those rules back.
So asking for an Ogre for the Elf team kinda falls in the same category for me as my brother asking to get High Elfs back officially on the Lizardman roster. (and yes if you weren't around then... for a short time having a High Elf on the Lizardman team was an official rule ...
)
So far all the testing in my league has not shown it overpowered. We've had 40 games played with the team for only a 43.75% win rate and that was with the Ulfwerener with MA 7 instead of the MA 6 that will go into the LRB 5.0. So it looks strong on paper, but is playing normally so far in testing.
Yes, but so many people complained that the BBRC decided not to delete the team.
Dejadles tener zombis o algo.
Right now in my league the 4 Vampire teams have a combined record of 10 wins-8 losses. My Vampire team is 3 wins - 0 losses right now and ranked 13th out of over 200 teams in my league. I'll admit they are a challenge to play. But they are far from unplayable. Especially now that they can get free Journeymen if a bad games make them go under 11 players. Free Journeymen make great snacks for the Vampires. We also changed the rules just this week to get rid of the exception about Vampires and the Apothecary to make the rules cleaner. Now all players on the Vampire team will be able to use the Apothecary which is a small help to the team as well.
Thanks for the questions.
